Research ingredients and approved medicines: what is different?

Approval applies to a particular medicine
Evidence about an approved formulation cannot automatically be transferred to another supplier’s powder or vial. Product quality, formulation, route and intended use matter.
Read the level of evidence
Laboratory findings, animal studies and human trials answer different questions. A research result should not be rewritten as a guaranteed improvement for a customer.
Ask about uncertainty
FDA has identified safety concerns and limited safety information for a number of substances offered for compounding. A research label is not proof of safety or efficacy.
